The World Over

“While women weep, as they do now, I'll fight; while children go hungry, as they do now I'll fight; while men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I'll fight; while there is a drunkard left, while there is a poor lost girl upon the streets, while there remains one dark soul without the light of God, I'll fight, I'll fight to the very end!"

Employment Plus Resource Centre

Monday and Tuesday 5-8 PM

The Purpose

If you are looking for employment or need advice on re-training, help is on hand at The Salvation Army in Hammersmith.

The Employment Resource Centre is part of The Salvation Army’s Employment Plus UK initiative which works with unemployed people to help improve their employment prospects, create new job opportunities, help them grow in self confidence and learn new skills and then once they have got back into work to help them so that they may become economically independent and self sufficient.

Employment Resource Centres welcome people looking for work. Each centre is manned by trained volunteers who can offer employment advice and help with basic skills like CV writing and preparing for job interviews.

Visitors can also make use of resources to look for work, including internet connections to job sites. They may also log on to The Salvation Army’s Employment Plus UK E-learning site which points job seekers to education courses and other resources which may help them to become better prepared for the world of work – including literacy and numeracy courses and courses for people whose first language is not English.

Responding To The Need

The Salvation Army is here to help people whatever their needs. Many people who are unemployed find it hard to get back into work because they haven’t got the skills required. We hope that people will come to The Salvation Army to learn more about the opportunities that are available to them, perhaps to pick up new skills and for advice. Most importantly, being part of the Christian church, we hope they will also find friendship and support here at The Salvation Army.’

The Employment Resource Centre at The Salvation Army, Hammersmith, will be open from the 12th of January 2009, on Mondays and Tuesdays from 5-8pm at 21-23 Dalling Road, W6 0JD.
